Indian Tennis sensation Sania Mirza is about to be engaged to Indian businessman Sohrab Mirza. Sohrab is the son of Adil Mirza and Noora Begum, who own Universal Bakers chain in Hyderabad. Sania and Sohrab are long time friends or you can say childhood "friends" and are going to be married soon, in all probability in 2010.

Sania Mirza started her career in 2003 and has had a career high ranking of 27 in singles and 18 in doubles. The Indian government bestowed upon her the Arjuna award. Sania Mirza’s name has been linked to a lot of big celebrities like Marat Safin and Shahid Kapoor. Sania is no less than any Bollywood star in India, and enjoys a strong fan base all over the world.

In 2009, Sania Mirza won the Australian Open Mixed Doubles title playing with Mahesh Bhupathi, which was her maiden Grand Slam title. She and partner Bhupathi beat Nathalie Dechy (France) and Andy Ram (Israel). She then played at the Pattaya Women’s Open tournament in Bangkok. She reached the finals, but lost to Vera Zvonareva.

Sohrab Mirza, born in 1985, is a year older to Sania Mirza, and is presently planning to go to the UK to pursue MBA. Sania Mirza is currently playing in the French open, so she was not available for any comment.

In 2006 Sania Mirza was awarded the Padma Shree, which is the fourth highest civilian honor in India. The engagement date has been set for 10th of July. As a Muslim she had faced a lot of flak from the orthodox Islamic factions the world over for her attire but hey I'm sure those orthodox people will never comment on Salman who takes his shirt off at the drop of the hat.Or will they?

Shah Rukh Khan Abhishek Aishwarya Rock at Karan Johar's Birthday Party

A guest says, “There was a lot of bonding happening; and rightly so. After all Karan’s party was the last major do for the summer of 2009. Next, he and Shah Rukh leave for the US to shoot My Name Is Khan. They’ll be gone for two months. That means Bollywood’s most influential folks will not get a chance to boogie-woogie and bond till August.

Highlights of Karan Johar's Birthday Party
* Karan dragged Abhishek to Shah Rukh and the two ended up chatting for sometime, with Ash looking on. So is it the end of Khan-Bachchan cold war?

* Kareena and Ash were seen chatting and dancing. Pleasant surprise considering after Abhishek and Karisma’s engagement broke, Kareena had put a ban on all things Abhi.

* Riteish and Genelia came separately; Shahid and Vidya were seen leaving together.

* Shahid and Kareena made no effort to chat, while Ash made an effort and avoided Vivek Oberoi.

* Hrithik, Abhishek, Arjun and Farhan climbed on the bar counter and danced.

* The party ended in the wee hours of May 26.

Unfortunate event of Karan Johar's Birthday Party
It was unfortunate that Karan, while being a gracious host to his colleagues, extended no hospitality to the media which had turned up to cover the event. Angry with the ill treatment, most photographers banned the party and you missed seeing the photos.

Watch Salman Khan Promoting 10 Ka Dum

Salman Khan was affable and forthcoming at a Sony Entertainment Television press event to announce their new programming lineup for 10 Ka Dum late noon on May 21, at the ITC Grand Maratha.

The programming lineup includes a second season of Salman Khan hosted 10 Ka Dum. Salman’s presence at the event debunked recent media reports of differences between him and Sony.

Recently back from filming in London, Salman was peeved with reports that he had 'harassed' Sony because they had slashed his paycheck for the second season of 10 Ka Dum.

“You keep writing false stories and when there is no reaction, the falsehood continues. If you react, more will be written,” Salman said.

"I was given big money in the first season. But, now it is recession time. The reduction in my fees for the second stint is not as much as it is being reported," he added.

Salman played politically correct when baited by a scribe who commented that TV shows hosted by rival Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar had not done so well.

Salman said he felt sorry that Shah Rukh hasn’t yet committed to a second season of Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? because the show gave everyone on this planet a chance to fame. As for Akshay and his Khatron Ke Khiladi was concerned he said, “I just wish him luck and wish that his show rocks.”

Salman who invited a lot of his celebrity friends on the first season of 10 Ka Dum was asked if he would invite Shah Rukh Khan on the show this year.

“Shah Rukh is more than welcome and I reckon he’ll be lucky enough to join me on 10 Ka Dum,” he joked.

“In fact I would love to have stars like Govinda, Sunny- with his cute smile, Dharam Ji and Sanjay Dutt on 10 Ka Dum. These people make the show interesting. As for the female celebrities I wish Madhuri and Sridevi would join me some time.”

“Since Sony is handling the celebrity aspect of 10 Ka Dum, I am completely clueless about it.”

Asked why he did not vote despite campaigning for so many political candidates during the recent Lok Sabha elections, Salman’s unguarded candor was endearing.

“I have campaigned only for my friends. And many of the election statistics say that only 29% and 47% people have voted in several regions, which shows people’s attitude towards the voting system. Secondly during the elections I was busy shooting and don’t have any big money and ample time like the other celebrities to travel all the way to vote and return back. I don’t like doing all this kind of show business.”
